Read at Home Programs

Why is it important to read to very young children?

Developing literacy skills begins at birth and continues through the toddler and preschool years. The best way to ensure a child has the skills necessary to learn to read is having someone read aloud to them.

Yes, you really can read 1,000 books to your child before kindergarten!

· 1 story every day for 5 years equals 1,825 stories

· 1 story every day for 3 years equals 1,095 stories

· 10 stories every week for 2 years equals 1,040
